Special Permissions
The app requires the following permissions to function properly:
SMS Permissions (READ_SMS, WRITE_SMS): Required to read messages from the sender device and restore them on the receiver device.
Default SMS App Permission: Android requires the app to be temporarily set as the default SMS app in order to restore or write messages on the receiving device. This change is only required during the transfer process, and you can switch back to your preferred messaging app afterward.
Camera Permission: Used to scan QR codes for connecting devices.
Location / Network Access: Helps detect nearby devices when connecting.
All permissions are used strictly to enable message transfer and follow Google Play policies.

Works wonderfully. Some tips for a successful sms/mms transfer.. After downloading app on both phones, go to your settings and under app permissions, grant this program access. Also make sure you are using the same wifi network on both phones. If you DO NOT grant the app access, you will just be staring at a message that says "connecting..." For a looooong time But it does nothing. Happy transferring!
I just switched from a Samsung to a Pixel and for some reason text messages failed to transfer over. After being unable to find a simple transfer method to transfer the files by plugging in the phones via USB I found this app. This app was simple to use, ads are nonintrusive on bottom, and it just worked. I couldn't have asked for more. I would highly recommend.
I'd been using SMS Backup and Restore for a long time with no problems until the restore function recently just stopped working. After reading so many positive reviews about this app, I decided to give it a try and glad I did. It works just fine, but noticed on the first try, all SMS and MMS messages were duplicated. Rather than go through literally thousands of messages and delete duplicates, I simply deleted all messages on the receiving phone, ran the app again and solved that issue.
Some of my conversations only uploaded the messages sent by others and none of my responses. Even though some conversations turned out okay, others ended up seeing double the messages and none of my responses so it's absolutely impossible to read the conversation. Not happy at all, the app kept stopping despite a reliable internet connection. Will have to delete all of my conversations and find another app to do this with.
