Since Mondly was bought by Pearson, the update wrecked the interface on my Samsung tablet, it's all scrunched and things overlap, making it nearly impossible to choose something. For spelling tasks, I can't delete the first letter from the input field. A misclick can doom you to a point off even if you want to fix it. I've reported it for months. On the bright side, with all the British spelling and phrases, they replaced the US flag with the UK flag for "English". That's annoyed me for years.
i used the free version for a while but wasn't progressing very quickly. i decided to just pay for a year subscription because i will be moving to the Netherlands next summer and am hoping this app will be a great supplement to learning Dutch. The paid version is obviously MUCH more efficient and i really do recommend it to others. i see complaints about there not being enough in the free version, but it costs money and time to keep an app like this running effectively so i don't mind paying.
The app is fine, but there is a bug and a suggestion so far. While learning numbers, I need to speak sentences with numbers. Voice recognition detects and writes the numbers as arithmetic digits, while the app expects them as spelled-out words. Also, why do I have to type the answer in my language when it asks for a translation? It’s a bit inconvenient.
A good range of activities, with daily lessons that provide steady improvement; weekly and monthly challenges. More focused thematic options lend variety. Option to use visual and aural prompts that aid retention, plus vocabulary and phrasal lists. Premium option allows access to a host of other languages too. I supplement my use of Mondly with two other apps (one on subscription and one free) that extend my range of exposure through videos, but Mondly has helped me most foundational.
