This game is exactly like the PC version and perfectly polished for tablets. Brings back fond memories. $10 may seem steep but the number of hours it takes to complete this bad boy more than makes up for the cost. So far this works perfectly on my chromebook through the google play store. It even has keyboard and mouse support like the originals.
Ye Olde School RPG done right. If you're unfamiliar with AD&D some aspects of the game may seem intimidating, but the story and gameplay are excellent. If you are having trouble with a certain enemy or battle remember the 90's RPG mantra: Save & save often. Don't forget to try different tactics and have fun. Remember, with these types of games you may not be able to complete every quest with your character and the choices you make may influence what events are available to you.
Beamdog did a really good job of porting this game from the past into the future. Some of the additional settings and gameplay aids make it a lot better than it was originally. Really solid work. 4 stars for that. But, in hindsight, this is an example of how terribly D&D rules translate into CRPGs. Lots of useless spells and items. Stupid character progression at high levels (a million XP for +1 THAC0 and 1 HP?). The magic system is terrible for real-time combat. It hasn't aged well.
It deserves full stars, outside of one glaring issue. You can't delete or replace created characters or their import profiles and they max out very, very quickly. This means soon after creating a couple parties you can no longer create any new characters. It's an extraordinary shame. That's what gives this game replayability. Please provide a way of deleting created characters; give a warning at the very least, for other players.
