I don't understand the recently released games like this. There is zero progress for the first hour+ of the game. You play the same level over and over, but unlike a rouge-like, the gameplay is exactly the same every time. No changes to enemies, no changes to tower placement no changes in outcome. You grind the same exact experience multiple times to get one upgrade. Until this game is updated, put your time elsewhere.
Honestly, so far, it's pretty good. no tutorial, so you may miss some features (I legitimately didn't realize you could upgrade for a solid 15 minutes...). But this is an awesome game. The simple minimalist aesthetic helps keep out from being too frustrating or confusing. I do wish the awakening currency and modifier currency weren't the same, or that modifiers could be permanently unlocked.
Stillpoint has the potential to, and could be a genuinely fun tower defense game with a few different builds to work toward. However, the developer decided to release the game with a pay-wall for anything beyond map 3. Once making it to map 4, you're informed you must pay $2 to play further. You might get 30 minutes of actual gameplay. Why even release this as a free game?
Clean aesthetics but lackluster core gameplay. You start with just a few spots to place towers, so a majority of your losses are simply due to not having the stats to clear the enemies, as opposed to strategic mistakes. Also no idea why the permanent skill tree upgrades use the same currency as the TEMPORARY per-run modifiers you buy in shop. These issues make the game a repetitive, uninteractive progression grind. I'd happily play more if this gets adjusted, but I can't recommend it as is.
