Cool ideas are on display here. If it weren't for the terrible progression system, matchmaking, rng mechanics and some of the worst balancing I've ever seen in my life, it might even be good. The outcome of games is not determined by skill, but a combination of who had the better starting hand and who drew better cards. The campaign started as a good way to avoid multiplayer, but the levels just ballooned into nightmares of rng. If I could describe the game in one word it would be "irritating".
The most important thing to know about this game is that you WILL have a rough time starting out. This game heavily favors paying players or players who have stuck with the game for a long time. If you aren't willing to cough up some money to buy card packs, then you're stuck fighting with whatever scraps you have while your opponents have fully fleshed out decks. The game is fun when you have everything, but the biggest issue is before that point.
Good scaffold for a decent game, but the little problems stack up to the point of annoyance. Every time you change screens there is a pop up, whether it be an in-game ad, a direction to the store, or some other random info for you to ignore, you can't get away from it. Absolutely pay to win with no real way of earning interesting cards outside of dumping money into in-game currency. Again, could have been interesting, but without spending money you won't actually make it anywhere.
I love to play this game with my wife but other than that this game is bs.. shield activation is rigged and the match making is terrible. I can already tell when im being forced to lose (shield goes up by 1 or a forced hand bc the opponent is set up to counter). Example: i have only 5 tricks in my zombie deck and the first cards I draw are all tricks even after swaping.. then my opponent plays a plant every turn that makes the tricks cost more.. BS!
