I just discovered the New York Mysteries games and I love them. They are challenging, but usually fairly intuitive. It's great that you get some free hints. I have only played the "free to play" versions and thus far have spent no money, which is really great. I wish I could turn off the character voices, but not a big deal. Overall, great games.
The story is interesting, and most of the mini-games are fun. However, some of the areas that need to be searched are hard to find unless you click every inch of the screen. It's also not possible to use logic to solve the game because items you need are in illogical places, for example you need colored paper in town, but it's in a wine press in the subway tunnels. Also, there is a puzzle with VHS tapes, which weren't even invented until the 1970s and the game is set in the 1950s.
Fun and challenging but not overly so! I got stuck twice so far as to where to go next but you can easily find help on youtube. Only puzzle I didn't like was the chandelier which took forever to solve it and became quite monotonous. I would definitely recommend giving it a try. I'll be 70 yrs old this January and I found this very good for my brain and it put a big smile on my face everytime I'd solve a puzzle! lol good for the ego!
I like Five-En games. This game is one of them. You can have plenty of fun with resonable ads to play for free and complete tasks. the clues are resonable. So, if you want to distract your brain from daily grinds, play this game. Over all it is great and I recommend it. I didn't give 5 stars; because, like anything else in life , there is always room for improvment. By the way, this is the 4 th game I played from this developer/ owner.
