While you can make a reservation through the app, best of luck making a simple update if it is needed. I have tried updating a reservation that is in 2.5 months and while the app says the update has been made, the information has not changed. A simple loyalty update is a basic function for an app like this and the fact it doesn't work warrants the 2 stars.
do I have a reservation? I log in, so I can see, but it's not there, the reservation can't be found. In addition to that, checking in on the app is obnoxious. I'd like an option to opt out of coverage, pre paid gas, toll passes, etc by default so that I don't have to answer all those questions twice for every check in and be treated like I'm making a mistake just for checking in.
5-year old child on coding boot camp can design better app. Nothing works. I am unable to update profile to purchase fuel at time of hire, shows random errors. I am unable to add fuel purchase to my existing booking, it can randomly go through 3 different flows, none of these add the option in the end. The app lacks a basic home button, once you go through few links, only option to come back to home is to kill the app and restart as back arrow is useless. What a shame Hertz!
I like Hertz. The cars are decent and the service is usually convenient. Lately the app and the entire experience has been getting really sour from them constantly trying to push their way-over-priced extra insurance. Take 'NO' for an answer and stop trying to push it. On this recent rental, I must have had to click the decline option at least 12 times during different runs through the booking and again to re-upload my drivers license, which hasn't changed or expired, and a selfie. Shameful.
