A strategic driving game from the award-winning maker’s of Smash Hit. Does not Commute is a temporal paradox in which you have no one to blame but yourself. What starts out as a relaxing commute in a small town of the 1970's quickly devolves into traffic chaos with hot dog trucks, sports cars, school buses and dozens of other vehicles. I first got this game probably 8 years ago and loved it. I recently downloaded it on my new phone, but it sadly doesn't work. The buttons to control the vehicle appear to be trying to render past the edges of the screen, as I cannot see them at all or click them in any way. The pause button is even cut in half in the corner. I love this game a lot and I hope they add support for square phone screens, because it is currently unplayable on mine.
It's a cool "racing\driving" game for people who probably don't like regular or "real racing" games. It deserves credit for it's originality and quirky style. It seems to be well made and is not add heavy. It does seem a little limited in depth and options so I can't give it 5 stars. It's not really "my style" of game, but was still cool enough to earn 4 stars. ....to me that says a lot. It is cool to see how your driving skills, paths, decisions end up effecting the game & story.
As with Smash Hit and PinOut, this game plays, sounds, and looks great. Unfortunately, also as with those other games, Does Not Commute is almost unplayable without paying, as you have to pay to save your progress, which makes even less sense with this game because, unlike the other games, this is a problem solving game, meaning that you can't get back to where you left off much faster or easier by "getting good".
I found this game over 7 years ago, and was hooked the first time I played. I install it every time I get a new phone, but never got premium until a few months ago. Let me say this: I have never been bothered by a single ad ever. Having to start over would get frustrating at times, but I continued playing. I finally paid in order to save my progress, and wouldn't you know...? NO ADS EVER!!! I love this game and have zero complaints. Thank you Mediocre, love smashit too!
