Classic Sega/PlayStation RPG brought back to life. I love when a timeless story with great characters and art is lovingly rescued from the past and made playable on mobile. It means that people who might never have had the chance to experience the game and the story have the chance to appreciate it. The beautiful animated cutscenes and classic top down art feel at home among modern games. The option to switch the updated controls between pathfinding single tap and on screen joystick works well.
The game itself is 5 stars. The story is fantastic and If you enjoy the old school RPGs you'll love it. The reason for the 4 star rating is because I noticed as I played through that my Google play account was not leveling up. There are no achievements for this game though I'm sure they could have easily added some. I found that disappointing. Sea of Stars is the game that brought me back to playing these games and the first I discovered on the phone. there are plenty of achievements there.
Seeing this here brought some tears to my eyes, as I never expected to see one of my absolute favorite games of all time ported to mobile. It's (almost) exactly as I remember playing it, all those years ago. The new voice acting is great, although a little surprising at first, due to script changes. Despite still getting used to the controls, evetything has been absolutely fantastic. I'm having a blast reliving my childhood. I hope we get Lunar 2: Eternal Blue someday ❤️
It is a solid port. Two things need to be changed on the default settings, the movement from the tap to the analog stick significantly improves the game and I don't know why it wasn't made the default, and boss leveling should be turned off because some of the early game balance is quite bad. I enjoy the silver and exp multipliers!
