Can't add a simple networked folder with the most universally compatible .wav files. Fails at the most trivial tasks that were seamless in the late 90s. Adding networked folders with universal industry file types has been the minimal expected functionality since 1996 and Sonos failed to meet that expectation for 30 years! There are other hardware vendors that comply with best practices. Look elsewhere for products that comply with bare minimum industry standards (like adding your own music).
For as much as these speakers cost, it should be better. The sound is still terrific! Double A+, really. But the app, though better, still needs work. I have to hit several buttons to turn off the link; as if I don't know I want to close the app. & it still gets buggy about accessing my entire library (whether by cell or by laptop). By this point in time it's disappointing.
I love the speakers. I have two Play 5 speakers in stereo mode. The app, on the other hand, I am not so crazy about. I use it on a Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The app is difficult to navigate, hard to return to a previous screen, find myself having to start over to go backwards, it frequently does not play songs on my Android device through to the end before it skips to the next track. Does just fine with streaming services, however.
App takes forever to load, and most of the time fails to connect to my speakers. I have an older play 5 and a play 3, spent probably 800-1000 for these speakers and the app never connects, wont work without location? (Why do you need that, everything is on the network I'm connected to?) Plus, these days after updates I cant even plug things directly into them, which was the last straw. I wish I had just got a nice Bose or really anything else at this point
