I've deleted and redownload multiple times hoping the app would be better but it never is. When you click a book to play it on cast, it never works. It plays a completely different, random book. So it's impossible to really choose what exact book you want. It will continue to default to a random book and you have to search through the random playlist it has and hope you eventually come across the book you want. Also the search doesn't work, you search for "Curious George" and nothing comes up.
for a kids reading app, this is great for people who are just learning to read! for someone who reads books as a hobby, this is a disappointment. first off, the KIDS app, costs real money, shameful, while this is a very good thing for those who have disabilities that make them unable to read with physical books, I find that reading through a screen does not help much with how real world books help with learning to read, I could compare and contrast a whole essay; real books are better.
My daughter loves this app. I wish it had a sleep timer! She likes to listen to the books as she falls asleep, but I need it to turn off after a while, not keep her tablet on all night. (I have tried using a separate sleep timer app, and I can't get that to work with Vooks either). I'd also love for it to play with the screen off when it's in audio only mode.
This is legitimatly the one app all 5 of my kids agree on. They love the books, especially when we find ones we already own. The "worst" part is when a favorite book leaves, but that usually just means it's time for us to buy it for our own library. The way the illustrations are animated means that the kids feel like they're watching TV, but as a former reading teacher, I love that the words are included so they can take in some written language. It's also easy to cast!
