I don't mind the couple of months' subscription fees I've paid, it's the hours I've spent trying to get this app to work as advertised. If the scanner doesn't make twisted, messed up images, I just get a folder full of page scans undergoing a processing that will never finish. The little green circles just spin and spin. Sometimes, if I reinstall the app, I can get a few pages successfully scanned and ocr'd, but the next batch is back to spinning green circles. Scan to PC has no ocr option?
I abhor subscriptions... Unless the app is so good and that i would pay for it just to help keep the app alive. vflat is one of those. I used to literally cut the spine off books to speed scan them and then coil bind them. Vflat scans as fast as you can turn the pages accurately and the OCR is more accurate than any software i have on my PC. If you have physical books that dont have digital equivalents online or you simply like listening to books instead. Vflat, been wanting this for years!
Great concept. Unfortunately, my phone's camera (Galaxy S7 camera) works much better. This app is not as clear and auto-adjusts the frame. Most of the time, the frame doesn't capture all of the writing and it changes everything to black and white, which ruins pictures and diagrams. I will say it does a good job taking small curves towards the spine of a book and making them into a straight line of somewhat blurry or whited-out text. Hope this helps someone feel less disappointed.
3 starts because it doesn't have a no filter option. the app will automatically select what to scan instead of giving the user the option to crop out or in what should be scanned. this was by far the most frustrating set back for me. if the app gets updated then it would be a huge win for me. scanned to immideate PDF is awesome. I had to upgrade to the CZUR book scanner and although it's great, wedding my scanned images into PDFs is now the struggle for me. hope you update the app!
