About This App
NetGuard is an internet security app, which offers simple and advanced ways to restrict apps' access to the internet.
Applications and addresses can individually be allowed or denied access to your Wi-Fi and/or mobile connection. Root permissions are not required.

NetGuard uses the Android VPNService to route traffic to itself, so it can be filtered on-device instead of on a server. Only one app can use this service at the same time, which is a limitation of Android.

This app is awesome. I love the fact you can block system apps from internet access. I'd say 90 percent of the apps on a phone ( at least my phone) don't need internet access to function, especially apps that just connect to send your location. I really like the fact you don't need root access as I have a Samsung Fold and cannot root it without tripping Knox. There is no adds, and the premium features are worth the price to unlock them.
I wish I had discovered this app sooner. SO many apps try to silently connect to the internet in the background. Even apps that have no reason to connect at all, try to do so before I can even read the privacy policy. Why? What data are you sending? IDK, but now I can block them all. The ability to block apps by default and the "notify on internet access" settings are the first things you should enable. Most apps can be blocked, even system apps, and your phone will still function & get updates.
Thus far, the app is excellent. You do need to spend a few minutes on the setup. I would also like to know if Netguard is willing to give a small discount on PRO version, as I am semi-retired and do a mass of pro Bono work, and my monthly bill for Apps, internet, telephones, and miscellaneous is staggering. In closing, I repeat that the app is top notch.
This app has helped me go from using 500mb a month to 30mb. 94% reduction in unnecessary data usage! Not to mention the pro version is only $8.50 FOREVER. Such a helpful app for free and you pay pretty much nothing for extra features. Improvements could be a way to identify linked apps. When you disable or enable some of the apps access it applies to more than just that one because they are linked via the system. I mostly just want to know about it since you might not see it do that.
