I really liked this until the latest update. It was a genuinely good Othello app, with good leveling. My limit was around level 20-22, where I'd win about half the games played. I would say I have a pretty good understanding of the game, but not at any master level (e.g. compared to tournament players). Above that was too strong for me. However, the current revision has completely nerfed the difficulty! Level 30 is now easy. I guess this is in response to negative comments about the difficulty.
adverts are vastly longer than the game play... I can't say how long the adverts are as after a minute, I restarted the game. adverts are after each game too... high rating is only due to old reviews (over 5 years old) when there would have been less advertising.
This game is great, and challenging as well, but recently, (as of 22nd of November 2025) the levels became so much easier to beat. I used to only win around 10 points on level 30, but I have discovered that I can win easily on said level 30. This makes the game much less challenging and uninteresting, and I am considering deleting this app unless what I described above becomes fixed by the developers. Thank you.
I'm a former ranked Othello player. This allows me to keep skills active w/o having to use Zebra. There's a program that allows us to remember the opening (Stephenson, Comp'Oth, Rose, Cow, Heath/Bat, Chimney, Sailboat, Tamenori, etc...)and know your strength of Black/white w/ a pretty close to reality ranking, but propensity of cheating makes people not enjoy it, so this is a good substitute...I'm currently practicing and finding my skills challengeable at level 22. There are up to 30 levels.
