I've been playing Choice of Games games for almost ten years and I love politics however I'm disappointed with this one. The game was not edited well: the choice logic is broken repeatedly. There are a lot of inconsistencies with pronouns, offices previously held, past vs imperfect tense, etc. The achievements are completely misapplied. I spent the entire game building/maintaining my relationship with my family (high % points) and it did nothing to help in the end. Not worth the 7.99 as is :(
Starts off strong but quickly becomes an exercise in frustration. The game is too opaque about what player actions lead to failure. It would benefit greatly from a save system and/or signposting what player stats are being used to determine game outcomes. Also, don't drag out failure. If I'm heading to an undesirable outcome, tell me quickly.
I've been waiting for someone to make a game like this in Choicescript for years, I even considered doing it myself but my coding and writing abilities leave something to be desired lol This game is perfect for political geeks, and gives you a wide variety of options, making this game very replayable. I would highly recommend this game for anyone who enjoys political narratives. Sure is nice to experience the fantasy of a competent US federal government.
The writer certainly knows their politics, both the good and the bad. There were some faults, such as the writing often switching between past and present tense, but nothing too distracting. I would certainly like to play this game again.
