The app mentions that you'll only be charged if you win an auction, but neglects to mention you can't cancel your bid once placed. Also lists a price then adds an extra £3 fee on top of it instead of just stating the real price. Misleading, confusing, and very expensive after moving trains and paying for an upgrade I didn't use. Won't be using again.
Ok. Room for improvement. Platform fee is excessive especially if travelling with 2 or more. I never received my discount for recommending a friend. Outbid despite no watchers, no bids. Placed a high bid only to be outbid by a lower bid!! Then not available. Bonkers and stressful. Wouldn't allow instant higher price upgrade either. Paid separately on the train direct instead. As a result seriously would think twice re using again, especially if travelling with 2 or more.
I've used Seatfrog for years and have always been happy with the service, but I'm disappointed that there appears to have been no communication about the introduction of Standard Premium upgrades on Avanti services. I received no email, no in-app notification and no clear explanation that I may now be bidding for a different product with fewer benefits than First Class. This isn't about whether Standard Premium is a good product, it's about transparency.
Mis-selling? Like others I have used the app for a while but recently it feels like the app is full of bugs. My latest journey is advertising an upgrade now option, but you are unable to buy the upgrade at this price which feels slightly misleading. Now questioning if there are any instant wins even available or are these being listed to encourage more bids and drive auction up above the original cost price.
