The prices on this are absolutely absurd and all the updates are about adding another thing that costs money. I do mean absurd. Like latest is $1000 to unlock one set of pixels that is a commander. You need two commanders for a fleet and they take a LOT more to upgrade after unlocking. Every price is bad. There are a lot of them. And it's worth very little. I have no idea what their strategy is. At this rate they won't have players. gaccha has also met inception. It has layers!
The game has a ton of bugs and is next to impossible to move to another computer without losing your in-game characters. Some of the ships such as the Tornado are way overpowered to the point of you can't beat them and that ship was a special event ship that you can no longer get. A corp with a squad of those can clear the game board by themselves and you can't stop them. No longer any fun to play.
Update: I had such high hopes and now going into season 3 I'm just bored. The game pretty much starts over every season. You keep commanders and ships, and hopefully you can afford one of the dozen or more micro transactions. Holy smokes are there a lot, and it's not just one currency or subscription to rule them all. No, they're all cumulative. So, pay-to-win aside, the mechanics would have been great in a really long term MMO style strategy game. Sadly, it's just the same game every 12 weeks.
The developers consistently fail to fix game issues. They change the rules in mid-season and take away promised rewards with no notice. The game requires significant commitments of time and (if you want to be competitive) a sizeable amount of cash. Additionally, even if you choose to pay for in-game events, they are set so you have, at best, a 1 in 30 chance to get anything of value. Recently, that have taken away 80% of in-game rewards... Don't waste your money or time.
