Lag has improved but playability has declined. So many things are in the game that the developers have made useless. Alliance defenses, station defenses, during Galaxy War it is server vs server but they only allow 1 alliance to hold a system or have the ability to see into certain systems. Too many to list here. So many players have left the game because of the greed the developers have shown in making this a pure pay for play game. You can not succeed without spending a lot of money.
I am having fun overall with the game, as there is a lot to do and if you don't spend money it will take a while to collect what you need to upgrade and unlock new tech. This adds replay value for me. However, the computer version seems to have an issue with crashing when the keyboard prompt comes up, such as when you're naming an edited ship or naming your fleets. If they can properly resolve this issue, I would give this game 5 stars and even possibly spend some real $$ on it.
The game has a lot of potential. It is just too "cookie cutter". All the top fleets are gold ships, all the bases are the same, there is no difference between players. The only strategy is to stack up as many ships/fleets as possible then attack. Who ever has the most, wins. Legions are the worst part. Having to wait for people to participate and only a handful are worth doing.
Off and on player for about a year. Don't bother unless you are a more intense gamer. The graphics, gameplay and balancing are great. But if you are new or trying to build up your resources, join your local system alliance quick (if they let you) or expect to be blown up and need to spend about a day's worth of gaming repairing w/ no resource gain. Pretty much the only way to get to a safe system once targeted is to allow yourself to get destroyed to near zero.
