In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.
The pace of This War of Mine is imposed by the day and night cycle. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading and taking care of your survivors. At night, take one of your civilians on a mission to scavenge through a set of unique locations for items that will help you stay alive.
Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them for longer-term survival. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.

Read the reviews. Saw a bunch of stuff about how it was buggy. Figured "hey, I played it on PC. I loved it! I can deal with some bugs." No I can't. And no you can't. These are the bugs where you restart the game 15 times (not exaggerating. A full 15.) or the game will send you back to the start screen over repeatedly. I am absolutely mind blown. I've played Frostpunk & This War of Mine etc. 11 bit is a great indie dev. I hope they fix these bugs. Quite literally unplayable atm :(
I absolutely LOVE this game on console and p.c. because you can choose your survivors and scenario. I dont like how im limited to only the default 3 characters in this story, I also dont like that I cant make the game last longer and with a harsher winter. because of paying what was it 14 dollars for this game, and not even having the full version witj a full roster, but more like a full demo, it was a significant enough loss of playability to warrant an entire 2 star deficit.
The game is fantastic and everything I'm looking for in a survival game. The scenarios keep it spicy and fun. The builds slowly become the same game different character after awhile. However. The bugs are too much. Someone finds a dead body? Crash. Hide in the wrong closet? Crash. Everytime you kill someone, there's a chance the game will crash. Spent about 6 hours over the 20 hours or so I played trying to navigate around crashes. Not worth the time. Devs didn't beta test clearly.
Played it once and made it to the end. I'm iffy here. I would be upset had I paid full price, but I caught it on sale. I want to give it credit though. It's a good idea, executed well, and it successfully gets deep. Things get repetitive at times and if you set yourself up, then scavaging isn't really a needed and you just Anne Frank it. I feel like the strategy for success will be constant over games and I'm not sure if I'll replay it. But I could see how others might love it. But this price...
