Tuner is absolute top shelf best you're ever gonna find.... EVER. Don't even bother looking, don't even try finding something else. The subscription is definitely worth it. The little practice lessons can help dial in those tricky strum patterns or nail the intricacies of that solo you've been struggling with. 5 stars is too low, this is a 6-star app. If you found my review helpful, buy me a beer or something. This is a great app if you are new to guitar and ready to just learn the basics. In my opinion once you get past the first few lessons it's pretty easy to teach yourself by just looking at the chords. The tuner is also very helpful and I use it every time I play my guitar. However I prefer not to learn full songs from this app because it doesn't show you the strumming pattern, and you have to pay to listen to and learn the whole song. There's also constantly ads telling you to subscribe.
I launch the app and get a dozen pop-ups, each with its own unique method of closing. It makes me choose what instrument I want to tune before I can actually use the app. When it detects that I've tuned the instrument, it opens up a TAB notated song that I don't want to play. The app doesn't allow for alternate tunings unless I pay. I just want to see what note I'm playing and how far off it is. Does it tune accurately? Yes. But it also tries to do far too many other things I don't want.
I picked up my guitar in January and taught myself to play. No crazy money was spent on lessons or outrageous app prices. I've only stuck to the free version of this app (in conjunction with YouTube and another guitar learning app) and the short free lessons and free tools like the metronome and chord library have helped immensely. since January I've learned: - horse with no name - simple man - take on me (both fast and slow) - perfect - knocking on heavens door you can't go wrong!
