Think Dirty is the easiest way to learn about the potentially toxic ingredients in your cosmetics and personal care products. It’s an independent source that allows you to compare products as you shop. Just scan the product barcode, and Think Dirty will give you easy-to-understand info on the product, track dirty ingredients, and shop for cleaner options.

App missing much product information because not in the database yet. It also seems to be subscriber driven so is this truly helpful or accurate? Feels more like a list of products and customers giving a thumbs up or a thumbs down and again information is missing for many items. Also, I got it because I was thinking you can enter ingredients or name. But that's at another level you have to pay for. There are other apps more user friendly and accurate!
I've had this app for a few years and while I loved it, I feel like the paywalled aspect of the app has become more and more aggressive. I watched this app go from a few in-depth aspects being paywalled, to more items in my search, to most of the keyword feature. When I tried the barcode instead I had similar results. I understand the app needs to make revenue somehow but knowing what the app once was, I just find myself using the app less and less for other alternatives.
I first downloaded the app a few years ago and really enjoyed it. It was easy to look up basic products and get an idea of the impact the ingredient list could have. It has been disappointing to see basic features be removed and placed in the subscription service. It would have been understandable if this had begun from its inception; however, it is disappointing to see long time/initial users monetized to use basic parts, like the search bar, of the app.
I love the concept of this app, and for the products that ARE in their database, it works great, but they are missing a lot. Only maybe 1/3 of my bathroom products came back with results, and honestly those were mostly the ones I already knew were safe. I think they should have an additional search bar for ingredient names as well, that way when something comes back with no results, I can at least search the names of the ingredients I don't know or sound suspicious to me.
