About this app
The free offline English dictionary and thesaurus with synonyms, related words and great search - and no adverts. Audio pronunciations are available with the separate Audio Edition app.
The comprehensive WordWeb dictionary database includes:
- 285,000 words, phrases and derived forms
- 225,000 word sense definitions
- 70,000 usage examples
- 85,000 text pronunciations
- Synonyms, similar and related words
- N. American, British, Australian and international English
The intelligent word entry suggests possible correct spellings as you type, as well as listing words that sound the same or are often confused.
Additional features include the ability to drill down on any word in a definition, full bookmark support and history.
Search features include:

- Fast pattern-matching search (*, ?, vowel and consonant)
- Filter search results by noun, verb, adjective, adverbs
The database includes proper nouns and common abbreviations in addition to English vocabulary (e.g. LOL, Oxford, JPEG, Webster, UNHCR, etc.)
You can quickly look up words from within other apps by selecting the word, then selecting WordWeb from the pop-up menu (requires Android M and higher).

The app itself didn't ask me to come write a review (which is half the reason I'm here on its behalf), but I had to since this is hands down the best dictionary app out there. Very simple to use, doesn't require a subscription and is very fast. It's exactly what you need and nothing more (a rarity these days in the age of neofeudal software empires).
One major flaw makes this a Hard Pass for me. Predictive text when typing a word is TERRIBLE! If you are only one or two letters off in spelling, it can not figure out the word and gives you many options except the one you want. Example: If you want the word conjugate but type congugate or congigate it can't figure it out. My current app gets it perfect and suggests correct spelling immediately. This app is not for those needing quick, accurate results, and your word is part of the GLITCH!
The search feature automatically finds while you type, similar words, and alternate words choices all at once on one side, then gives you the definitions along with synonyms and other thesaurus features at the same time on the other side. The only downside is there aren't as many synonyms and similar words as some websites or apps. Although the latest icon is ugly, it can be changed if needed.
Good offline dictionary. Fast. Interface feels a little dated, especially the dark theme. It would be nice if it had audio pronunciations, though I know that would take more space since the app works offline. Overall, it's great, and the nicest offline dictionary I've found thus far.
