*UPDATE - The dice rolls are not random. I just played a game where it gave me a 3/5 roll four times in a row! No way that happens in real life. Original review: Even at level 7, the CPU plays a running game, very defensive and somewhat boring. It also magically seems to get just the right dice roll at just the right time to save itself. Almost without fail, it will get the roll it needs to hit my piece, this happens repeatedly whenever I have to leave one open. Every. Time.
Nothing has changed. Except now, some commercials are literally 5 minutes. I have had this game forever, at least 10 years. Before ALLL of these forced commercials, I would have rated it a 5. Now, the commercials are so often, I give it a 3, and I am on the verge of deleting. I just read other reviews about the ads. They are NOT able to be stopped at 5 seconds. No. You are forced to see every last second. Just terrible.
I've used this app on and off for many years. I've even recommended it to friends. After not using it for awhile I recently came back to it and found it has become just lousy with ads. So many ads interrupting the game. Also the new Level 8 engine is nearly impossible to beat where previously I was 50-50. It just always seems to get the roll it needs to beat you. Currently searching for another backgammon app.
Can't beat the crooked dice. There is no way the dice rolls are random. They break for the AI better than 95% of the time. I'm not the luckiest person, but my luck never runs anywhere near as bad as it does in this game. When I have a chip waiting to come out and the only spots blocked are 6 and 2, it is unbelievable how many rolls I have to wait for something other than 6 or 2. When the AI can only get out on one number, it almost always rolls that number the first roller the second roll.
