About Discovery Insure
Discovery Insure offers car insurance that rewards good driving.
Through our smartphone-enabled DQ-Track, which incorporates the Discovery Insure app and our Vitality Drive telematics device, Discovery Insure clients get real-time feedback on their driving behaviour, as well as other innovative features. Drive well to get up to R1,500 in fuel rewards every month.
To start earning your monthly fuel rewards, you must install a telematics device and link it to the Discovery Insure app. Then, activate your Vitality Drive card through our Discovery Insure app and swipe it whenever you fill up at BP or Shell. You can also get rewards on your Gautrain spend when you link your Gautrain at www.discovery.co.za.
Note: The Discovery Insure app uses location services. When you are not driving, it does not use GPS. It uses battery-efficient methods to automatically determine the start of a trip and stops detailed monitoring soon after a trip ends. The app is aware of your battery life and will not start monitoring a drive if the battery is low. Although the app has been designed to use your phone’s sensors in a battery-efficient way, running the app without a charger on long trips may drain the battery.

This app is dreadful. Only one driver per car. Keeps complaining about phone settings. Everything must be on all the time - Bluetooth, GPS, mobile data, the lot. No power saving mode either, that is forbidden. To make it worse, the in car device is not really a proper tracker. At this I am stage I am so fed up that I am willing to change insurers just to get this nonsense off my phone and out of my life. The only setting that will improve it is uninstall.
App is slow and cumbersome, when I open it mostly does not display my current status etc, then I have to click on the troops which takes forever to sync and usual only displays one of my the vehicles, then back to home screen and mostly then several times back and forth before I am able to view anything. My wife roeiers the same. We have good internet, good enough to stream 4k content without buffering, but we can't get your app to sync.
The new security setup process is cumbersome and flawed. I had to enter my password 5 times, log into the medical aid app, link my device. then download and reinstall the Insure app (although I was using the app on my phone already). And, after all that, I still can't find the information I need to submit a claim. All in all an unpleasant experience.
Deserves a big fat 0 stars. Completely broken any goodwill fostered by the Discovery broker and Tiger Wheel and Tyre salesperson that tried to help me. I've seen scam apps that run better than this. This app experience alone makes me want to caution people against switching to discovery. Update: the app is telling me all my trips are uncovered. All permissions are on, batt. saver off, bt on,location always allowed, phone in the car when I drive. My discovery profile isn't under this email.
