Amid the turbulent waves of the Worldsea stands Gigantea, the walled island city. But now the rebellious Surge clamors against the rigid hierarchy of Gigantea's society, striving for equality and threatening to overturn the only order you have ever known. Will you stand with the stalwart Spireguard to uphold the monarchy and maintain the integrity of Gigantea, join the anarchist rebels and bring about radical change, or speak for the spirits and taste their magic? Or, will you try to rise as high as the Spire itself to rule the city in your own right?

In all honesty, this would have been better as a regular book. The world building is fantastic, but the pacing of the story as a choose your own adventure is extremely stilted. Things happen for no reason, your choices never quite feel grounded and are so same-y from scenario to scenario it seems pointless to have choices in the first place. The characters are the weakest part, with the pacing being so awkward meaning you don't get to know any of them well. I enjoyed the setting, not this story.
I'll be honest, I didn't finish it. I got to when Nan practically demands the MC to add this random dude we just met to our polycule before stopping. I'm a gay idiot, I like when a story proudly showcases queerness. But this wasn't it. It felt embarrassed by it's overt queerness, and tried as hard as it could to explain why the culture allowed they/them pronouns or poly-marriages. Which fell flat. That's the vibe for most of the world-building too. There are better CoG games to play over this.
There are too many inconsistencies to overlook. A prisoner walking freely under the king's eye, the main character acting like nothing wrong is happening on a daily basis; romance is bleak (I got close to one of ROs and suddenly they are with somebody else? It could be a good romantic intrigue, but really it's just bad writing).
Stll early in game but I really enjoyed what I read so far. It's a rich world with distinct characters and prose that narrates the story without being too difficult. Certainly more inspired than just the usual bland quasi European style fantasy or another Tolkien clone.
