It's honestly an amazing game. For being free and on mobile it does offer a lot of gameplay and you can tell they put effort into the artwork. The only downside is the amount of time it takes to get more commanders but honestly the game is so fun, has so many maps, and so many nations to play on those maps, that the time it takes it kinda worth it. Overall 9.5/10 game, would absolutely recommend. Note: PC version is miles above the mobile version. Just try it on PC, thank me later.
Great strategy game. If you don't like strategy games this game won't be for you. If you play for free it will be a bit grindy in order to accumulate medals to acquire/promote generals but still very enjoyable to play. At some point in the campaign you'll get stuck if you don't have mobility generals (eg. Pompeii and Antony). Conquest is easy. You have to establish your defensive front before your allies collapse. Archers/javelineers are your friend. Retrain your units before they die.
This game really takes all of the great features of other easytech games and makes an excellent game. Gameplay, structure, design...all amazing. 3 complaints: 1 (the worst one), easytech games seem to be overly difficult lately (conqueror mode). 3 levels of difficulty would be nice (easy, normal, and hard). 2nd, it would be nice to have a store where you can buy items (similar to European War 4). 3, would be nice to remove a general from a unit and assign to another unit.
The difficulty that other reviewers complain about is the main draw for me. It is very possible to progress without spending any money, as long as you make full use of all the game mechanics. There are a lot of little things that can change the outcome of the battle. The forums are very helpful (search European War 4 boards). Don't get stuck trying to force your way through one game mode - I had to farm conquest before finishing campaign. Once your generals become powerful you will see !
