Sigma Theory is a Turn-based Strategy game in a futuristic global cold war from the award-winning creators of Out There. Recruit a squad of special agents and run your intel agency to secure the control of the singularity.
STORY
In the near future, a paradigm-shifting scientific discovery looms over the world, promising radical new technologies. The world’s superpowers realize they could have the power to destroy the global financial system, wipe out entire countries or even gain access to immortality.
However, this discovery — called “The Sigma Theory” — can only be harnessed by a handful of scientists. You are placed at the head of your country’s Sigma division. Your objective is to ensure that it is your nation that reaps the benefits of Sigma Theory before anyone else.
To achieve this you will have powerful resources at your disposal: a cadre of the world’s most elite covert agents, advanced tactical drones and, of course, your own skills in diplomacy and subterfuge.
It’s a cold war out there, one in which mankind must face up to its future.
THE ULTIMATE ESPIONAGE SIMULATION
Turn-based espionage: Use your special agents to dominate the world. Seduction, blackmail, manipulation, industrial espionage… Every low blow is both permitted and encouraged.
Dynamic narrative: Develop and manage your relations with over 100 NPCs: lobbies, armed groups, politicians… Alliance, deception or assassination, you choose.
Field operations: Direct the kidnapping of your targets during gripping pursuits through the world’s greatest cities. Discretion or direct confrontation, your agent’s life is in your hands.
I cannot recommend this game followed by their (sequel?) Over the Omega enough! I had downloaded both games on the same day, not realizing they were made by the same creator. I started with Over the Omega and then played this game a week later. Only after finishing Sigma Theory did I realize how deep and artistic these two games are! Great for people who enjoy strategy games, asset management with a lot of involved storytelling! Great for exploring ideas of what makes us human. Kudos to the Devs
I feel like they did a really good job with this one and it lends itself to some replayability. Not as much as some others but it's still there. The idea and core concept is interesting enough to feel fresh and the gameplay loop is enjoyable. You can tell they did a really good job with balancing all of the agents because it's genuinely hard for me to pick which ones I want on any given playthrough. I still haven't gotten to the end but I'm liking it a lot so far.
The lack of a tutorial was an incredibly bad decision. This game, although not difficult, is very far from intuitive. There are quite a few ways to get an edge over other countries and what to focus on during espionage, so as long as you've got the basics down, it's a good time to explore with agents. And that's about it... Replayability is limited by your interest in the spies and whether you're willing to make them work, but it can only get you so far. Overall, it's ok for play pass.
Feels boring and just too repetitive, even the dialogue is repetitive. I tried it with the play pass, I think it might be fun for some but not for me. It took awhile to even get started, felt like I clicked on random stuff too much just to try to find what to do. Im giving it a 3 star because it was ok but not worth my time.
