It’s been many years since Guybrush Threepwood was last locked in a battle of wits with his nemesis, the zombie pirate LeChuck. His true love, Elaine Marley, has turned her focus away from governing and Guybrush himself is adrift and unfulfilled, having never found the Secret of Monkey Island. Hip, young pirate leaders led by Captain Madison have shuffled the old guard from power, Melee Island has taken a turn for the worse, and famed businessman Stan has been imprisoned for ‘marketing-related crimes’.
Banter with old friends and new faces on familiar islands now under dangerous new leadership. Then, take to the high seas and explore the new and unknown as you work your way out of tough predicaments. Sooo slow. So disappointing. More like watching a cartoon than playing a game. Fun at first. Great mechanics, great art, fun tasks, but then...forced to watch a ridiculously long narrative, a super long credit roll, a long transition, another long narrative, on and on. I like a good storyline as much as the next guy but I'd rather play than watch. Would be a GREAT game if you tightened it up. I'd have given it a 3 if I wasn't so annoyed with the game for wasting my time.
If you're one of those people who *only* remember the ending of a game/movie/show, you prolly won't enjoy the "the secret was the friends we made along the way" nature of this one. However, this is a really long, rich game for being a mobile app, with good graphics and a nice interface for the point-and-click style. Burns battery a bit. Worth it, though. Great if you like collections and achievements.
Very slow and boring. It has so much dialogue, and you can't skip it. Most of the game is running back and forth. This is the 2nd time I've downloaded this game because the first time, it didn't work years ago. The game developers never responded. The ending sucked, all that buildup, not to find out what the secret was. no puzzles. Lost Lands and True Fear are good games. I couldn't imagine. I got it with Google Play. I have played 100s of games, and this is one's. Not my type of game, sorry 😔.
I absolutely loved the references to the older Monkey Island game. I also loved the ending. What others call a "let down" was to me, a wonderful way to hammer in the point and message that was repeated throughout the entire game: it's the journey that matters. There is a beautiful letter from the developers hidden in the Scrapbook on the main menu when you finish the game, and it explains why they chose this ending. Good length, funny dialogue, and puzzles ranges from easy to challenging.
