Whoever writes the vignettes has saved this game. They're very cute and in character and the right level of reference without relying entirely on nostalgia. I played because I want to get to the next story. The combat system almost has strategy to it but there's so little control that it feels bad. Thankfully, defeat isn't a big deal and you still progress when failing. The idle clicker part is an idle clicker. It's designed to stress you out and get you to pay real money to "win."
Everything in this game takes way too long. Way too many coins needed for upgrades and you get maybe 5 an hour. And the PVP matchup is really not accurate. An easy comparison is I'm level 1 and I'm matched against level 10+. And can't connect to Google Play even though it keeps reminding me to. Hope they get better down the road in development. Edit: based on the reviews, I'm finding players are having similar issues, I'm kinda shocked they have such a high rating. Must pay people to leave 5 ⭐s.
The game play here is mostly a waiting simulator with a lot of micro transactions. Progress is quite slow, but the ranger interactions in scenes are kind of nice. Battles are kind of few and far between, and you have very little control over them. There seem to be a lot of events which is nice. Also, a good variety of rangers and villains. The game would benefit from more ways to earn coins and gems. I like the art style.
I love the game, play it daily, but I'm dropping it one star. The reason is the limited events - the milestone requirements are asinine. One is ending in less than an hour and even the number one player in the world will miss a couple of them. Also - there are around 55 episodes in the story, but once you complete them, it takes 2-3 months for each new one to release. Would like them to be a bit quicker. Still fun though.
