Feels more like an expansion pack of Great Big War Game, but surprisingly de-contented. You can't see achievements. You can't turn on blood/gore. There's no Fog of War. All the levels seem WAY too small and simplistic. Some you can beat in a few moves (putting the bases/generals right next to each other. WHAT?!) The upgrade system is weird too. You have to use points to unlock anything. I wish they released a proper sequel to GBWG, the best of the series. Unfortunately it feels like a cash grab
Truly an amazing turn based war game. The first game is needlessly hard and unforgiving, while this one fixes all of that. There are definitely some very hard missions, like mission 30, but they are all easily beatable with some effort+trial/error. Give it a try, you won't regret it. Jeremy Edwards gave 4 stars "because it doesn't tell you what the upgrades give your units", but on the upgrade page it clearly tells you every upgrade point adds attack and defense to the unit you upgrade.
The game is getting older now, but it's still fun. It's a great, yet simple, turn-based strategy game. Unlike some of the other Rubicon war games, this one starts out VERY simple. The others have 1-or-2 introductory missions, then jump to real missions. This game takes a little more time, which is a good thing. It gives players a chance to build up points, which are necessary for upgrading/unlocking units.
Great game. GLWG1 had so much potential but ended up being a bit of a bust. This game fixes that by fixing some bugs, adding some unlockables, and making a game that builds up instead of just throws you in. Add to that some better graphics and it's an A+. Not to mention free with the play pass 3 years later I played through the game again and it was just as good. Please add new levels!
