Have you already downloaded Zwift? If so, you’re in the right place—Zwift Companion makes Zwifting better.
It’s like a remote control for Zwift that you can use pre-ride, during your ride, and post-ride.
Zwift Companion is a great place to plan your next activity. With all the events in one place and thousands to choose from, you're sure to discover like-minded athletes who want to get fit together. You can also find and join clubs on Zwift Companion.
You'll see rides chosen specifically for you based on your preferences, fitness level, and upcoming events. You can even set reminders, so you're never late for a ride.
You'll also find a bunch of cool information on Zwift Companion's home screen, like the number of people currently Zwifting, as well as any friends or contacts you're following.
Have a Zwift Hub smart trainer? You can also update the firmware with the Companion app.
DURING YOUR RIDE
With Zwift Companion, you can send RideOns, text with other Zwifters, bang U-Turns, choose between route options, and more. You can also adjust the resistance of your trainer on the fly during structured workouts, to increase or decrease intensity. Want to turn erg mode on or off, take screenshots, or see riders nearby and their stats? All of this happens on Zwift Companion.
POST-RIDE
Take a deep dive into your ride data and the folks you rode with. You’ll also find a progress bar for any Tours you’re participating in and the latest on any goals you set for yourself.
Works about 5% of the time. I REALLY wish it did, but it rarely stays connected. If it does stay connected then you freeze on the map or either your messages/ride ons never actually send or work. You can't use your power ups or anything. Don't even bother with it and just enjoy the riding. I think they would rather you pay real money for the controllers or their bike unfortunately. Zwift doesn't care about their customers or this would be fixed ASAP. Instead its been an ongoing issue.
Good, but needs a few kinks ironed out. The "Stop" button is just not registering. At first, I thought maybe my hand was too sweaty but, even after toweling everything off, it still won't register. The other functions do. To stop a ride though, I have to dismount an do it from my computer (of fumble with my wireless keyboard). Hopefully, will be fixed soon. The other "Would like to have" would be to select and start a ride from the companion app.
This is nice to have, but really does so little! How about telling us how many experience points, Drops, etc. were earned in a session or event? Further improve the automatic naming to let me toggle off parts. Why do I have to open up Zwift itself to see how many xp I have, or view/buy things in the drop shop? How about a permanent "center on me" button instead of making me scroll kilometers away to make it pop up? I could go on & on about the app's unfulfilled potential.
In general, it's pretty good, and I've used it for several years without problems. Today, not so much. I am run Zwift on a Lenovo Vantage tablet. The Zwift app works fine. I run Companion on a Google Pixel 9a phone. The phone was fully updated today, both system and apps. When I ran Companion, it seemed to start up fine, switched to the map, and showed me on it, and immediately put up a "Something went wrong" message, and exited. Rebooted the phone, tried Companion and again it quit on me.
