The Quest - Asteroids is an expansion to The Quest, a beautifully hand-drawn open world role playing game with old school grid-based movement and turn based combat.
After enabling the expansion, you can explore new areas and adventures. However, if you don't have The Quest, you can also play the expansion as a standalone game.
Your ship has run off course. You find yourself sucked into a black hole that warps you far away. The world you know so well is gone. It's as though there were a huge explosion. All around you asteroids appear on fire. You feel great pain and pass out. You wake up in a strange room with an unearthly creature looking down on you. You sense the beginning of a great adventure but will you ever be able to get home?
To access the new areas (not applicable if you are playing the expansion standalone), go to Matras harbor and talk to captain Verra, then select "Asteroids I" as your travel destination. It's recommended you reach at least level 4 before taking on the challenges posed by this expansion.
Shout out to my boy Sticky. I had fun playing this expansion. However, the quests can be confusing without guides. I felt that losing 10-15 hp/mana by walking is too cheap. Some walls/buttons can be activated by touching screen or attacking after quest activation. Also one thing I always disliked about the main game mechanic is whenever there is dialogue pops up through walking, I tend to skip dialogue entirely.
I haven't finished it yet. There are a lot of indoor areas and like usual I'm getting lost. The different environment is very interesting which makes it worth it for me, though. The items are good selling but the low level seems kind of strange since the main game takes care of the first 15 levels already. (The area's suggested level is 4.) It's nice to not have to worry about long range attacks killing you, though.
Definitely the worst one due to an extremely hard opening dungeon, but I just had to finish my 21 pack collection. 600 per kill same as the main Quest (23k on most other expansion packs) and only 5%better gear than the Lvl 1 Quest (560 enchan. Quite complex dungeons. Hermatite mines starting area lost til you figure out to get a well hidden bomb to blow your way thru a blocked off area, acquire and don Hermatite robe to get out to the mainland. Magefication spell 10x current mana best spell!
Yet another to add to my collection. Cat's famous words on the forum are, "Soon...." 🤪 Looking forward to the next one to add to my collection. A must pick up series of grid based RPGs that have a long history that goes back to the Palm Pilots, where I played my first Quest game.
