And then there's Maker, the mysterious scientist who developed Sonoma's bioweapon, performing cruel and unforgivable experiments on humans and werewolves alike in her obsession with "accelerating evolution." When your pack fell prey to a mysterious disease that unleashes feral rage, Maker developed a weekly injection to suppress your inner beast. Definitely the best of the saga so far. All the previous installments had me absolutely hooked but this one was hard to put down once I started. Everything, especially the lore and characters, is very well expanded on and makes me want to learn even more in another installment. Some of the choices and moral dilemmas presented did really make me take a step back and consider. As a final installment the ending is a bit lackluster, so I'm really hoping there's another in the future.
It's a pretty solid resolution, though the pacing at the end seems a bit rushed. Also, it doesn't make sense that the password protected creation mode makes you rank order your stats and relationships. It should just let you set them as you please. You've beaten the game and the mode in the first book just sets your stats at 75.
10/10 masterpiece. I don't even like books or reading in general. I usually prefer to play rpg video games and watch Netflix and YouTube. But I chose to not watch any shows or play any video games and instead just read this book. For like a week straight. I was completely enraptured by the story, world building, lore, mature writing style, immersive figurative language that made me feel like I was watching a gripping and compelling movie in my mind, characters, choices and the consequences.
As with the last two instalments in the series, this novel was gripping, well thought out, and had me wishing it was at least twice as long! I think what stood out most was a focus on character development, really diving into what makes each cast member unique in the story. It made the story feel more dynamic and fostered strong connections with each of the characters. Fingers, toes, and everything else crossed for another instalment in this series. I would highly recommend this novel.
